PROJECT'S OBJECTIVES

1.  Estimation of the natural, economical and social resources to establish the conversion to the ecological vegetable growing production. This objective will be achieved in analytical manner for each resources category and will prove the answer to the question: there are or there are not objective conditions for conversion?

2. Study of the consumers’ and producers’ attitude and preferences towards ecological vegetable production. This objective will solve the problems about the perception, attractiveness and interest of the consumers and mainly producers towards ecological vegetable growing.

3. Study of the main risk factors from ecological vegetable production. The objective will put in evidence the answer to following question: how much is ecological vegetable production under the incidence of certain risks, economical non-efficiency, and lack of specific market, suitable crop protection methods and higher labor costs.

4.  Case studies referring to conversion process at ecological vegetable production. This objective will emphasize and analyze four situations: successful ecological vegetable farms, farms during conversion stage, vegetable farms with conversion potential and farms without conversion potential to ecological vegetable growing.

5. Conceptual elaboration and conversion model projection to conversion of ecological vegetable production.  Achievement of this objective will prove the elaboration of solution –programme needed to recommendation for the promotion of the ecological vegetable growing in different types of farms.

THE PROJECT'S TECHNICAL, ECONOMICAL AND SOCIAL IMPACT

The project’s results will have a major technical, economical and social impact, so it results from the purpose and objectives. The impact elements were suggested or mentioned in previous chapter: Results / benefits.

Technical impact. The project militates for the promotion, introduction and development of a new system of vegetable growing lauds cultivation, respective ecological / organic / biological agriculture. Concrete, the project must find technological, economical - social, financial, social-professional solutions to promote ecological vegetable growing in the private farms from the northeastern part of Romania. Technical impact is relevant on the education system too. The project’s realization determines to obtain knowledge (information) and experience, including technical practice, which it will enrich, the scientific and technical treasure.

Economical impact will be realized by economical efficiency (the results of vegetable growing promotion), which will assure rural community development’s sustainability. The conventional system’s supporters consider the ecological agriculture as a less efficient economical system. Despite these opinions, it is confirmed that the insurance of a market for these products and the consumers’ awareness of ecological aliments health importance are the premises of the ecological agriculture economical efficiency.

Social impact. By promoting ecological vegetable growing development, this project will have a major social impact for rural communities (for example, new better rewarded jobs because of the high economical efficiency; more healthy ecological vegetables which will reduce the number of the diseases, especially for the children and old people).

Environmental and natural resources impact. Agricultural/vegetables ecological production has a major role in environmental conservation and rational/sustainable use of the natural resources. The impact will be defined through: decrease of the chemicals use and pollution; new ways, less aggressive for soil cultivation (to eliminate the methods, which can harm the soil’s structure, permeability and micro flora).

Rural development impact. Ecological production development is a way for the agricultural sector sustainability, the main sector of rural economy. Sustainability of the production system has, as a result, sustainability and economical-social development of the rural zones. The development of this zone will superpose on national and European development program.

It will be identified technical, economical and social impact of the project on environment. The impact can be defined as better work and life condition (including health), opportunities for education and improvement, new jobs, environment and natural resources conservation, technological opportunities, especially in less developed zones and/or for regional and rural development).

The project’s results will base a major technical, economical and social impact, so it results from the propose and objectives mentioned in previous chapters. The impact elements were suggested or mentioned in previous chapter-Results benefits.

CAPITALIZATION/SPREADING PLAN

The potential recipients of this project's results will be:

The main goal of the research activity is to promote ecological agriculture/vegetable growing. This activity has a great utility for the producers and consumer of vegetable products. These research activities, including our proposal, will help especially political-administrative decision factors to build up developmental strategies of each rural locality. There are in attention to prefect’s offices, county boards and county offices for extension service. In addition, expected results will be useful to the national decisional factors (e.g. Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Environment). Expected results will have, also, a theoretical and scientific processing data.

Multiple paths and means will realize spreading the obtained results:

  • internet web page;
  • commercials in specialty magasines, radio-TV commercials;
  • workshops;
  • brochures, folders, CD-s;
  • guiding books;
  • scientific papers published in specialty magasines of national and international recognition;

presenting the results in reports session related to the designated field.
