CONTRIBUTIONS ON THE KNOWLEDGE OF EGGS QUALITY IN STANDARD TYPE ONDULATED BUDGERIGARS (MELOPSITTACUS UNDULATUS)

Abstract
The investigations focused on the establishment of the main quality indexes for the eggs laid by undulated standard budgerigars "Melopsittacus undulatus". The assessments were run on 120 eggs, issued from three representative aviaries in Moldova, conventionally coded with L1, L2 and L3. They involved morphological, physical and chemical assays, run in accordance with the most used aviculture techniques. The achieved data revealed a good uniformity for most of the studied traits, as the lack of statistical significance of the differences found between groups proved it; however, significance occurred just for the eggs specific gravity. Quality indexes, established for the whole studied population presented various levels, as following: 2.51 g for the weight; 2.41 cm3 for volume; 79.89% for shape index; 0.95 for specific gravity;0.25 mm for shell thickness and 0.177 kgf/cm2 for shell breaking strength.
The results we achieved provide original data related to the quality of the eggs laid by standard type undulated parrot, contributing thus in making a larger picture of this species biology.
CONTRIBUŢII LA CUNOAŞTEREA CALITĂŢII OUĂLOR DE PERUŞI ONDULAŢI STANDARD (MELOPSITTACUS UNDULATUS)

Rezumat
Investigatiile au avut drept scop stabilirea principalilor indicatori de calitate ai oualor de perusi ondulati standard "Melopsittacus undulatus". Determinarile s-au efectuat pe 120 oua recoltate din trei crescatorii reprezentative pentru Moldova, notate L1, L2 si L3. Ele au constat în aprecieri de ordin morfologic, fizic si chimic, în conformitate cu tehnicile de lucru utilizate în mod curent în avicultura. Analizele efectuate au evidentiat o buna uniformitate pentru majoritatea indicatorilor urmariti, dovada fiind lipsa diferentelor cu semnificatie statistica între loturi; doar, în cazul greutatii specifice au fost gasite diferente statistice semnificative între loturi. Indicatorii de calitate ai oualor, stabiliti pentru întreaga populatie studiata, s-au situat la niveluri medii de: 2,51 g pentru greutate; 2,41 cm3 pentru volum; 79,89% pentru indicele formatului; 0,95 pentru greutatea specifica; 0,25 mm pentru grosimea cojii si 0,177 kgf/cm2 pentru rezistenta cojii la spargere.
Rezultatele obtinute de noi cu privire la calitatea oualor depuse de perusul ondulat standard sunt originale, ele contribuind la întregirea cunostintelor referitoare la biologia acestei specii.
